Why it made the arsenal.
This is the pilot's headline tool, and we picked it on purpose. The AGO (Autocidal Gravid Ovitrap) design came out of CDC research in Puerto Rico, where deploying them across neighborhoods cut Aedes populations dramatically. It works by pretending to be the perfect nursery: a bucket of water and organic matter that smells like prime real estate to a female mosquito ready to lay eggs. She flies in through the entry, gets caught on a sticky board, and her whole next generation is cancelled. No pesticides airborne, no zapping beneficial bugs, no power cord. It targets exactly the container-breeding species (Aedes albopictus, Culex pipiens) that dominate NYC backyards.
